About Gomley Chesed Congregation
Gomley Chesed Congregation is the only Conservative synagogue in Portsmouth, Virginia and one of the oldest in the Tidewater area, founded in 1886. We are located in the Churchland area, convenient to Portsmouth, Norfolk, Western Branch, and all parts of northern Chesapeake and Suffolk.
Gomley Chesed continues a long tradition of commitment to the ideals of Conservative Judaism. Our membership is very active, with morning minyans and full services each Friday night and Saturday morning.
We have a sponsored breakfast
and Dvar Torah every Sunday
morning.
Sisterhood and the Men's Club are active
in a wide variety of programs to benefit our
synagogue, the Portsmouth
Jewish population, and the
entire local community.
